This section of the trail passes through five historic watermill sites, including 16 th century Hind Wheel, the first of the Rivelin watermills to be built. The ‘Round  Dam’ at Hind Wheel is located in what seems to be a natural meander in the river, and was doubled in size in the early 19 th century to provide more power for the grinding wheels.
