Charles Pigott was in his late 50s when the Rivelin Valley artists were painting together, and he was already a well-established and prolific Sheffield landscape painter. This is a typical subject for him, called “Sheep and the upper Rivelin” , seems to have been inspired by the river in its farm land in the upper reaches.
